The sky doesn’t fall- Look up!
I know, I know – you’re reading this one on a screen and I am asking you to look up. Bit ironic, hey! Isn’t it? But that’s exactly the point. In this digital world, our eyes are constantly fixed on screens but sometimes its nice to just have a gentle pause, feel your own breath and – remind yourself to look up.
This thought first came to me a few years ago when I was reading a book called “Zindagi di Daat” by Gurbaksh Singh Preetlarhi, a renowned Punjabi author. These were one of his series of books, not novels, but essays and reflections, like wisdom weaved together from a profound elder’s journal. The first essay or probably second, was named as “Utaanh Takkana” (looking up). He beautifully described the power of sky influencing positivity in human minds and it stayed with me. So much so this idea still sits in my WhatsApp bio to this day. I never changed it. Perhaps because I need it. Often.
You see, I get lost in the noise too -in the illusions of everyday anxieties, juggling work/life/uni balance, never-ending to-do lists, and silent overthinking. Like most of you, I often find myself shaken by the smallest of things. I think our generation gets tangled quickly- little things feel big. And God! Big things sometimes feel like the end of the world.
But then on quiet, slow days off, I open that book again and reread that chapter. Especially that chapter. It calms me down. It reminds me to appreciate nature, the beauty around me and the vastness of Sky.
The sky. Have ever just looked at it for a while, my friend! It endures everything alone, witnessing - changing seasons, wild storms, winds, warm sunshine and still it stays…it says. And most importantly it never falls!
And maybe that’s what we’re meant to do, too.
I’m not the strongest person you’ll meet. I feel lost too. I lose faith in my path sometimes. Then after my Lord and family this quote somehow comforts me. And in these moments, I remind myself of this truth and try to live by it.
Just when I was thinking about writing this blog post, cooking in the kitchen while listening to Satinder Sartaj’s playlist, Universe agreed with me too. I was listening to his song “Aadmi” and these lyrics caught me:
“Ess Dharti te Hakk chalo, wadh-ghatt hone,
Par ikko jinna sabh da Aakash hunda ae”
(In life, societal rights may be unfairly distributed,
But the sky belongs equally to everyone)
The sky never discriminates. It holds no bias. It shelters all. It doesn’t care about your caste, your status or your name. It simply opens itself -equal for everyone!

I believe in you, beautiful soul. The sky doesn’t fall. And neither will you.
Chlo Bye, Enough soul talk for today!
Sachi dssna, you looked at the sky reading this na?
Tell me in the comments, I’m Watching!
See you next time.
I hope this blog finds you calm.
With love always,
Gurnoor.
